Storm Come Up Short Against Tiffin

Box Score

PAINESVILLE, Ohio—The Lake Erie College men's soccer team (2-8, 1-6 GLIAC) were unable to find the back of the net, dropping a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match against Tiffin University (2-5-2, 2-4-1 GLIAC) Sunday night (Sept. 30) at the The Britt in Painesville.

The Dragons cracked the scoreboard early in the first half. Joshua Link connected on a header from four-yards out to put the Dragons in front 1-0 in the third minute. Ryan Johnstone appeared to have increased the Tiffin lead to 2-0 in the 27th minute, but the goal was negated by an offside call.

The Dragons defense held the one goal advantage, limiting the Storm to just six shots on goal.

Filip Ljubevski (Ajax, Ont./Pickering) recorded five saves in the second half for the Storm, relieving starting goalie Sam Etherton (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance), who faced two shots in the first half. Anthony Novak (Toronto, Ont./St. Mary Catholic) led the Storm with seven shots.

Jeremy Ashley recorded six saves in the shutout for Tiffin.

The Storm return to action next Friday (Oct. 5), traveling to Midland, Mich. to face GLIAC foe Northwood University (4-3-1, 4-3-0) for a 2 p.m. matchup.
