Michigan Trip Ends With Loss to Lakers

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.--The Lake Erie College volleyball team dropped a three-set contest on the road at Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Lake Superior State University Saturday (Sept. 29) in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.

The Lakers (4-11, 1-6 GLIAC) won the by scores of 25-19, 26-24, 25-30 to earn their first conference win of the season.
The Storm (2-10, 0-7 GLIAC) were led on offense by Molly Richardson's (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger), 10 kills, two digs and one ace.  Jamie Hoppe (Green Springs, Ohio/Clyde) added eight kills and five digs for the Storm while Samantha Knepley (Munith, Mich./Stockbridge) tallied 22 assists and two blocks. 
Nikki Stratelak and Chloe Balanda combined for 23 kills to lead Lake Superior State.  Megan Drobish led the Lakers with 19 digs and Sydne McMullen added three blocks.
The Storm return home on Tuesday (Oct. 2) to host Notre Dame College in a nonconference match at 7 p.m. in the Jerome T. Osborne Family Athletic and Wellness Center in Painesville.  Lake Erie defeated the Falcons earlier this year in a thrilling five-set contest in South Euclid, Ohio.
