Lake Erie College (0-6, 0-4 GLIAC) fell a goal short in a 2-1
loss to Ohio Dominican University (4-1, 3-1 GLIAC) in Columbus,
Ohio.
The Panthers got on the board first in the 26th minute in
the first half when Andrew Edler received a cross from Justin
Wheeler and found the right half of the net from just inside the
box. In the 30th minute, Lake Erie evened the score up on a penalty
kick by junior Marco Gaudio
(Cambridge, England/Impington Village College).
The score stayed that way until the 75th minute when
Ohio Dominican's Felix Darko scored off a pass Liam Fitzgerald.
In goal for Lake Erie, sophomore Ricky
Carreira (Toronto, Ont./Dante Alighieri Academy) made 13
saves.
Ohio Dominican won the battle of shots, 24-8, and corner kicks,
7-1.
The Storm are in action next on Tuesday, Sept. 21 when they
travel to take on Mercyhurst University at 4:30 p.m.
