Lake Erie College (0-4, 0-2 GLIAC) fought hard for 90 minutes
but fell to The University of Findlay (1-2, 1-1 GLIAC), 3-1, in
GLIAC action in Findlay, Ohio.
Findlay kicked off the scoring in the 20th minute
when a Brennan Williams cross was converted by Shane
McGee. The Oilers took that 1-0 advantage into halftime.
The lead extended to 2-0 at 52:45 when Findlay's Joey Gogolin
scored off a pass from Logan Lipinski. Just 1:03 later, a
Storm penalty in the box led to a penalty kick goal from Findlay's
Williams. Lake Erie got on the board in the 88th
minute when junior midfielder Miroslav
Pezer (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) scored on a free kick from 20
yards out. The goal was Pezer's first as a member of the
Storm.
In goal for Lake Erie, sophomore Ricky
Carreira (Toronto, Ont./Dante Alighieri Academy) made two
saves.
Findlay won the battle of shots, 15-9, and corner kick, 7-5.
The Storm are in action next on Sunday, Sept. 12 when they
travel to take on Tiffin University at 2:30 p.m.
