Box Score PERRY, Ohio – The Lake Erie men's lacrosse team could not
muster an offensive attack in the first half on its way to a 13-3
loss to visiting ECC opponent Molloy College on Saturday (May 1)
afternoon.
The Lions (4-9, 3-6 ECC) dominated the first half, taking an 8-0
lead into halftime. Molloy pushed the lead to 12-0 before freshman
midfielder Joe Kudla (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) put the Storm on
the board with a goal with 34 seconds remaining in the third
quarter. It was Kudla's first goal of the season.
Freshman attacker Josh Becker (Salamanca, N.Y./Salamanca) scored
early in the fourth quarter to make it 12-2 off a feed from
freshman midfielder Matthew Curcio (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim).
After a Molloy goal, Becker scored again to close the scoring with
9:24 to play.
Eight different players scored goals for Molloy, including three by
Albert Maione. He also added two assists after entering the game
tied for sixth in assists in the ECC. Matt Dolan had three assists
to go along with a goal.
The Lions also got some outstanding goalkeeping as Tommy Bruno and
Glenn Greubel combined to stop 17 Lake Erie shots.
Molloy held advantages in shots (48-39), ground balls (32-25) and
cleared successfully on 17 of its 18 attempts. The Lions was
2-for-3 in man-up opportunities.
The Storm will play on the road for its final two games next
weekend. Lake Erie will play conference opponents Mercy and No. 5
C.W. Post on May 8 and May 9. Both games start at 1 p.m.
