Box Score PERRY, Ohio – The Lake Erie men's
lacrosse team fell behind 5-0 and could never recover against East
Coast Conference opponent Seton Hill, which beat the Storm, 13-5,
on Wednesday (April 28) night at Perry High School's Alumni
Stadium.
The Griffins (9-3, 5-3 ECC) scored four times in
the first quarter and Greg Chaples added his second goal of the
game early in the second before Josh Becker (Salamanca,
N.Y./Salamanca) put the Storm on the board with 8:37 to
play in the first half.
The teams alternated goals until the end of the
third quarter, but with Lake Erie starting in the 5-0 hole, it was
not enough to overcome the deficit. The Griffins scored all three
goals in the fourth quarter to eliminate any threat of a Storm
comeback.
Becker scored twice to lead the Storm and
Kyle Larsen (Massillon, Ohio/Jackson),
Keegan Bal (Coquitlam, B.C./Centennial Secondary)
and Joeyjohn French (Tully, N.Y./Tully) added one
goal apiece. Larsen's assist gave him two points to match
Becker's pair.
Seton Hill was able to dominate in the hustle
categories, leading ground balls (37-27) and faceoffs (13-8). The
Griffins scored on two of its three man-up opportunities, while the
Storm was limited to a 2-for-6 output.
Goalkeeper Alex Wisner (Sylvania,
Ohio/Northview) made 11 saves in the game.
The Storm will have a couple days off before
returning to the pitch on Saturday (May 1) 12 p.m. when it hosts
Molloy at Alumni Stadium.
