Box Score Lake Erie College (2-8, 0-8 GLIAC) played tough but it was not
enough in a 1-0 loss to Michigan Tech (5-5, 3-5 GLIAC) in a home
match at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium in Painesville,
Ohio.
The first half was played mainly between the 20-yard lines as
only three shots were put on goal between the teams in the half
(MTU: 2, LEC: 1). It appeared as though the game was going to go
into half scoreless, but with less than two minutes remaining,
freshman goalie Megan
Baldacci mishandled a cross and it led to an easy goal for
Michigan Tech's Melanie Hoffman.
The second half was much of the same as Michigan Tech put three
shots on goal in the half while the Storm did not have any
attempts.
Baldacci made four saves for the Storm in the loss.
Michigan Tech won the battle of shots, 18-7, and corner kicks,
4-2, but there were few good scoring opportunities for either
side.
Lake Erie is in action next on Wednesday, Oct. 6 when it hosts
Urbana in a non-conference matchup beginning at 4:00 p.m.
