Lake Erie College (1-11-1, 0-7 GLIAC) lost to GLIAC foe Ashland
University (8-3-1, 6-0-1 GLIAC), 2-0, in a road contest in Ashland,
Ohio. The Eagles beat the Storm by an identical 2-0 score in
Painesville in the first matchup in September.
Storm sophomore goalie Rick Carreira (Toronto, Ont./Dante
Alighieri Academy) was outstanding in the loss with 16 saves. He
has now stopped 34 shots the past two games and the 16 saves
against Ashland set a record for most saves in a game against the
Eagles.
Lake Erie has struggled out of the gate in nearly every game
this season and the problem put the Storm behind the eight-ball
from nearly the opening whistle as Ashland's Louis Clark
scored just 18 seconds into the game. The Eagles other goal
came in the 31st minute from Kelly Desmond.
Ashland won the battle of shots, 30-10, and corner kicks,
10-2
The Storm return to action on Friday when they kick off a GLIAC
road weekend with a trip to Saginaw Valley State.
