Box Score PAINESVILLE, OHIO - In a matchup of future conference opponents,
Ohio Dominican University scored a pair of second half goals to
spoil the Lake Erie College men's soccer team's season-opener in
the first game of the John Toebben Classic at Northern Kentucky
University.
After a scoreless first half, the Panthers (1-0) struck just
1:50 into the second with Felix Darko converting a goal from eight
yards out. Chris Feller added the second ODU goal with a header off
Justin Wheeler's free kick at 58:23.
The Storm (0-1) managed just five shots in the match, compared
with 18 by Ohio Dominican. Senior Jared Daley (Hubbard,
Ohio/Ursuline) saved six of the eight shots he faced in goal for
Lake Erie. Tyler Gleason stopped all four shots against him for the
Panthers.
Both teams are slated to join the Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (GLIAC) next season.
Lake Erie will play the host team, 4th-ranked Northern Kentucky,
on Sunday (Aug. 30) at 4 p.m.
