Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The Lake Erie men's soccer team dropped the
final match of its season on Sunday (Nov. 1) afternoon, 2-0, to the
Tiffin Dragons at Slattery Field.
The Storm (7-11-2) began the day by honoring the seven seniors who
will be leaving the program after their senior seasons.
Those seniors include: goalkeeper Jared Daly
(Hubbard, Ohio/Ursuline); defender Justin Rraya
(Parma, Ohio/Normandy); midfielder Everton
Blake (Clardenon, Jamaica/Clardenon/Lakeland CC); midfielder Jacob
Magdich (Oregon, Ohio/Clay); defender Brandon
Morton (Waite Hill, Ohio/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin);
midfielder Drew Indiano
(Euclid, Ohio/Euclid); and defender Jay Sutter
(Batavia, Ohio/Amelia).
On Sunday, the Storm fell behind early to the Dragons (12-4-1), who
scored in the ninth minute on an Ashton Campbell goal.
The Dragons entered the match after finishing in second place in
the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season.
The Storm will join Tiffin in that league beginning next
season.
The game remained 1-0 into the second half, but the Dragons
deposited their second goal in the 60th minute to keep the Storm at
bay.
Lake Erie was able to apply more pressure in the second half,
out-shooting Tiffin in the second half, 7-6, but the Storm was
unable to capitalize on four shots on goal. Tiffin keeper Jeff
Frisch finished with the clean sheet.
Daly finished with six saves in his final match, while Magdich led
the Storm with four shots.
Lake Erie - which was coming off its best result of the season, a
3-1 home win over PSAC champion Mercyhurst - eclipsed last season's
win total (four). The Storm also improved as the season went on,
picking up at least a draw in nine of its last 14 games after
beginning the season 0-5.
Junior forward Scott
Stuckey (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon) finished with the team lead in
goals with 13. Blake added six goals. Freshman striker Rob Searles
(Chardon, Ohio/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) tied with Stuckey with
four assists to lead the Storm this season.
