Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The Lake Erie men's soccer team could not
stay with the second-ranked team in the Midwest Region, Ashland, as
the Eagles topped the Storm, 3-0.
James Livingston placed a perfect free kick past Lake Erie keeper
Ricky Carreira (Toronto, Ont./Dante Alighieri Academy) from 19
yards out in the 19th minute to pick up the only goal the Eagles
would need.
They added another at the 29:00 mark as Max Hiltner headed in a
cross from three yards off a cross by Michael Kennedy to make it
2-0.
The Eagles (6-2-4) added their third goal in the 71st as Andrew
Iden converted a header off a corner kick by Mitch Deyhle.
The Storm (4-7-1) was out-shot in the game, 16-8, and committed
eight more fouls than Ashland (18-10).
Freshman Rob Searles (Chardon, Ohio/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) put
three shots on goal, but AU keeper Blaise Lishewski set a new
school record with his seventh shutout and extended his scoreless
minutes streak to more than 400.
The Storm is back in action at Malone University on Saturday (Oct.
10) at 2 p.m. Lake Erie returns home on Monday for a home tilt with
Lock Haven on Monday (Oct. 12) as the second half of a
double-header with the women's team. The doubleheader begins at
1:30 p.m. with the men's game starting around 4 p.m.
