Box Score PAINESVILLE, OHIO - Behind two goals from senior Everton Blake
(Clardenon, Jamaica/Clardenon/Lakeland CC) and junior Scott Stucky
(Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon) the Lake Erie College men's soccer team
earned a 4-3 decision this afternoon (Oct. 2) over future GLIAC foe
Northwood University in a downpour in Midland, Mich.
Blake scored the game's first goal in the 21st minute for an
early Storm (3-7-1) lead. A flurry of goals in a span of 1:10
knotted the match at 2-2 at halftime.
Steven Hufstader scored on a rebound to tie the game at 28:44.
Just 17 seconds later, Keith Lough scored to give Northwood (5-4-1)
a 2-1 lead. The Timberwolves' lead would be brief
because Stucky connected for his fifth goal of the season at
29:54.
Stucky and the Storm wasted little time taking back the lead
after halftime. Less than 30 seconds into the period,
Stucky scored his team-leading sixth goal on the season on a long
ball from the left side.
Lough answered back in the 59th minute with his second goal to
tie it but the Storm responded once again. Blake took the pass from
classmate Jacob Magdich (Oregon, Ohio/Clay) off a free kick and put
in what would be the game winner in the 65th minute.
Northwood outshot Lake Erie 26-17 in the match. Despite allowing
three goals, redshirt freshman Ricky Carreira (Toronto, Ont./Dante
Aligheri Academy) made a career-high 13 saves for the Storm.
The Storm will look for a sweep of its two-game Michigan trip on
Sunday (Oct. 4) at Saginaw Valley State University.
