PAINESVILLE, OH - The Lake Erie College women's soccer team evened its Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) record to 1-1 with Tuesday's 4-1 victory against Pitt-Bradford. The Storm held a 1-0 advantage after junior Angela Bethel (Beavercreek, Ohio/Miami Valley) scored her first of two goals at the 18-minute mark on a pass from sophomore Randi Blakey (Mantua, Ohio/Crestwood).
The second half saw three goals for the green and white, the first from Bethel at 52:12 off a pass from freshman Katelyn Overcasher (East Canton, Ohio/St. Thomas Aquinas). Overcasher tapped one to Bethel at the top of the box where the team scoring leader faked out the Panther keeper and slipped one into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead. Lake Erie then went up by three at 59 minutes on a goal from freshman Katie Daratony (Dexter, Michigan/Dexter). Bethel was credited with the assist.
Bradford scored its only goal of the game at 72:21, but the Panther celebration was fleeting as LEC scored its final goal of the day just two minutes later. Overcasher netted her first collegiate goal on an assist from freshman Darlene Bott (Conneaut, Ohio/Lakeside).
Storm keeper Veronica Skowron (Youngstown, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney) recorded three saves in 74 minutes of action as Lake Erie improved to 4-7 overall.
