PAINESVILLE-When it rains, it pours. That saying could not have been truer for Lake Erie College on Wednesday afternoon for their women's soccer contest.
The Lake Erie College Storm were hoping that the weather conditions would play to their favor as they hosted La Roche College for an AMCC battle. That plan never was a factor as the Redhawks soared past the Storm for a 9-0 victory at Lake Erie.
Forgive the Storm as well if they don't want to hear the name "Lindsay" for awhile as Lindsay Talbot and Lindsay Wagerer combined to score seven of La Roche's nine goals. Talbot scored four goals, while Wagerer also notched a hat trick along with an assist. Nicole Costantini also had a solid game for La Roche as she notched a goal and three assists in the contest.
The torrential downpours that both teams playe dthrough made even the noblest onlooker cringe as they watched the two teams battle in almost frigid conditions. La Roche managed the elements as they went on a scoring flurry early in the first half. The Redhawks scored five goals in the first half, all of which came within an 18-minute span. Talbot alone scored three goals in aten-minute stretch to put Lake Erie in a huge whole early.
Lake Erie was never able to recover as they managed just. five shots to the Redhawks 28. Lake Erie now drops to 1-9-1 on the season and 0-4 in league play, while La Roche improves to 6-4, and 2-0 in AMCC action. The Storm will be back in action on Saturday afternoon Pitt-Greensburg for another AMCC contest. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00.
