David Price is entering his second season as the head coach of the Storm football program in 2025.
Price came to Lake Erie after spending the previous five seasons at Tiffin University. In 2023, Price was elevated to the role of Defensive Coordinator and also served as the Associate Head Coach, Defensive Line Coach and Academic Coordinator. Under his leadership, the Dragons finished the 2023 campaign with an 11-1 record, finishing as the Great Midwest champions for the 3rd time in 5 years, and earning the top regional seed in the NCAA Tournament. Price's defense made history in 2023. The Tiffin Defense finished as the best in the G-MAC leading the league in Scoring Defense (16.3 ppg), Total Defense (265.2 ypg), Passing Defense (142 ypg), Defensive Efficiency (87.5), 3rd Down Defense (29%), and 4th Down Defense (23%). The TU Defense was also top-10 nationally in multiple categories including #1 in the country in total takeaways (31).
During the 2022 season, TU's defense second overall with just 16.7 points allowed per game. They were also second in yards allowed (269.6) and the top team in the G-MAC in rushing defense (94.9). They also had the most sacks in the conference and were third in interceptions.
During the 2021 season, the Dragons' defense led the GMAC in scoring defense (20.4 ppg) and defensive pass efficiency (112.8) while also finishing second in yards allowed per game (330). Charlie Cleveland landed his third consecutive GMAC Defensive Lineman of the Year award while Latrell Robinson (Second Team) and Hunter Waits (Third Team) also landed defensive line honors.
During the 2020-21 campaign, Price helped lead TU to their second consecutive G-MAC title, leading the conference in yardage allowed (208.8), pass defense (109.0), and defensive efficiency (89.9). Price led one of the top defensive line units in the country in 2020-21 and again all three starting defensive linemen were named All-G-MAC (Latrell Robinson 1st Team, Hunter Waits 2nd Team, Charlie Cleveland 1st Team) including a second consecutive season with Cleveland being named the G-MAC Defensive Lineman of the Year.
During the 2019 campaign, Price helped lead the Dragons to arguably the best season in program history. Tiffin finished the regular season 9-1 along with a perfect 7-0 mark in G-MAC play to claim the conference title. The G-MAC crown is just the third conference championship in program history, and first as a member of Division II. As a result, the Dragons earned their first-ever berth into the NCAA DII playoffs and came extremely close to upsetting the 2-seed in the region, Kutztown, on the road in the first round.
The Dragons led the GMAC in total defense (352.6 ypg) and were second in scoring defense (21.9 ppg) while leading the conference and ranking 17th nationally in interceptions with 16 on the year. The Dragons also led the G-MAC and ranked 28th nationally in rushing defense with just 109.3 yards allowed per game on the ground. Tiffin recorded one shutout during the season (52-0 at Walsh) and held opponents to seven points or less an additional three times (45-7 vs Alderson Broaddus, 59-6 at Kentucky Wesleyan, 55-6 vs Saint Anselm). All four defensive line starters were named All-G-MAC (Latrell Robinson 2nd Team, AJ Wright 2nd Team, and Marvin Radford HM) including Price's star defensive lineman Charlie Cleveland, who was also named the G-MAC Defensive Lineman of the Year at the conclusion of the season.
Before arriving at Tiffin, Price spent time at Wheeling (2018), Ohio Northern (2016-17), and Hiram (2010-2015). He is a 2008 graduate of the University of Akron with a degree in Psychology, where as a student he was a walk-on member of the football team.
