PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Lake Erie College men's soccer team earned a 2-0 G-MAC victory over Walsh University, scoring once in each half and keeping the Cavaliers off the board for the full 90 minutes.
Lake Erie broke through in the 21st minute when Veljko Radovanovic found the back of the net off an assist from Florian Senf. The goal was Radovanovic's fourth of the season and gave the Storm a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Storm added to their lead in the 65th minute. Cal Babiash scored his third goal of the season after receiving a pass from Radovanovic, pushing Lake Erie ahead 2-0.
Lake Erie finished with a 15-13 advantage in total shots and put seven attempts on goal. Radovanovic led the Storm with four shots, while Babiash added three shots and two on target. The Storm also generated five corner kicks throughout the match.
Defensively, Patrick Bassett played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded four saves to earn the shutout. Walsh managed four shots on goal but could not get past Bassett and the Lake Erie back line.
With the win, Lake Erie improves to 5-3-2 overall and 4-1-1 in G-MAC play, while Walsh falls to 1-7-1 overall and 0-5-1 in conference action. The Storm are back in action on Thursday, October 1st, as they take on Cedarville on Campus Field at 7pm.
