Painesville, Ohio - The Lake Erie College women's soccer team opened the home portion of its schedule in grand fashion, downing the visiting Wheeling University Cardinals 4-1 on Wednesday night at Campus Field. 

The Storm scored early and often, depositing three first-half goals en route to securing their first victory of the young season. 

Less than six minutes into the game, transfer Ava Moore opened up her LEC scoring account as she was left all alone on the far side and sent a laser into the net off a beautiful cross from DJ Holder. 

Lightning would strike just a minute later when first-year Teena Erras took a perfectly placed slotted pass from Alice McKenna down the field and outraced the Wheeling defender before sending it by the keeper. However, the Amelia, Ohio, native wasn't done there as she completed her first-half brace in the 28th minute off a feed from classmate Evie Rice. 

With a comfortable three-goal lead at the intermission, the Storm were able to slow down the pace in the second half, but did find one more tally in the 77th minute when Moore sent a picturesque cross from the far side to the back post where she connected with Laney Colvin for the finish. 

The Cardinals' lone tally of the night came on a penalty kick goal in the 83rd minute off the foot of Jeanery Diaz. 

LEC finished with a 17-6 shot advantage, which included a 10-3 margin in shots on goal. The Storm also doubled up the Cardinals in corner kicks, 6-3. 

Lake Erie (1-1-1) returns to action with a Sunday matinee scheduled for 3 p.m. at Roberts Wesleyan University.
