Women’s Soccer Draws in G-MAC Opener

Owensboro, Ky. - The Lake Erie College women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw in its G-MAC opener on Thursday night at Kentucky Wesleyan University.

The two foes were level with 12 shots apiece over the 90-minute affair with the Storm finishing with a slight 5-4 edge in shots on goal. However, the Panthers had a 5-2 margin in corner kicks.

The result marked the second straight tie and third of the year for the Storm (1-1-3), and the first non-loss of the season for Kentucky Wesleyan (0-4-1). 

Morgan Vanmeter made four saves on the way to posting her second clean sheet of the season and 12th of her career. The senior from Magnolia, Ohio, has 27 stops on the year and 253 in her illustrious career. 

Ava Moore fired off five shots in the match and put three on frame to test Panthers goalkeeper Caleigh Meeks, who stood tall to the challenge. Alice McKenna and Ansley Batey also forced Meeks to answer the call.

The Storm will stay in Kentucky to take on Thomas More on Saturday at 2 p.m.
