The Lake Erie College women's soccer team was unable to erase an early deficit, falling 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Frostburg State University.
The Storm trailed early after the opening goal from the Bobcats in the 10th minute. Lake Erie tried to strike back minutes later with a shot from forward
Teena Erras, but Frostburg keeper Kayla Doty was equal to the task. Doty was called on again when
Ava Moore tried to find an equalizer in the 25th minute enroute to a team-high three shots.
The Bobcats stuck twice more before the half in the 35th and 41st minutes as the Storm trailed 3-0 at the break. The Storm couldn't break the Frostburg backline, registering four shots, two on target in the second half. Both Moore and
Camryn Vlcko tested Doty in the closing minutes of the contest, but neither could erase the clean sheet.
The Bobcats add a goal in the 84th minute to close the match and hand the Storm their first defeat to the 2026 campaign.
Moore's three shots, two on goal led the offensive effort followed by Erras, Vlcko,
Alice McKenna and
Isabella Carvalho with one attempt each. In net, senior keeper
Morgan Vanmeter finished the afternoon with six saves elevating her season total to 15.
Lake Erie College women's soccer returns to action when they host Wheeling on Wednesday, September 2. Kickoff from campus field is slated for 7 p.m.
