Indiana, PA. - Following an inauspicious start to the match that featured a near two-hour weather delay, the Lake Erie College women's soccer team earned a nil-nil draw at Indiana University (PA) on Thursday afternoon to open up the 2026 season.

Senior goalkeeper Morgan Vanmeter kept the Storm in the match throughout the 90-minute affair, turning away nine shot attempts to run her career saves account past the 200 mark at 205. 

The Storm failed to generate much of an offensive threat, triggering just four shots in the contest with sophomore transfer Ava Moore generating the team's lone shot on goal in the 15th minute. Isabella Carvalho led LEC with two shots in the stalemate. 

Lake Erie, which used just five substitutions throughout the match, was out-shot 15-4 and lost the corner kick battle 10-2. 

However, the Storm rearguard that produced seven clean sheets a season ago, picked up right where they left off by holding the Crimson Hawks scoreless. IUP, which went 14-3-2 in 2025 averaged 2.74 goals per game and were shutout just three times. 

Lake Erie will look for its first win of the season on Saturday afternoon at Frostburg State. The first touch is set for 3 p.m.
