Inside the Storm: Lake Erie College at Kentucky Wesleyan College

Painesville, Ohio – The Lake Erie College football team will seek its third straight win over Kentucky Wesleyan College on Saturday afternoon in Owensboro.

Inside the Series …
The Storm have controlled the all-time series against the Panthers, owning an 8-3 record, including victories in four of the last five meetings … However, each of those battles has been fairly close, with LEC owning a margin of victory of just 5.5 points per game during that stretch … The Storm and Panthers first met in 2008, with LEC prevailing 38-31. The Storm would win again the following year, 24-7 … The two foes wouldn't meet again until 2017, and now lock horns annually as members of the G-MAC.

Scouting the Panthers …
KWC has struggled offensively this season, averaging just 13 points per game while ranking at the bottom of the league in total offense at 194 yards per game … The Panthers have scored more than 14 points just once thus far this season, which came in a 44-24 loss in Week 1 against Kentucky Christian … Defensively, Kentucky Wesleyan is allowing 50 points and 464 yards of offense to its opponents per game, ranking last in the G-MAC in both categories.

Last Time Against the Panthers …
The Storm turned in a dominant defensive effort in last season's 27-9 win, holding the Panthers to 30 yards on the ground and 132 through the air while totaling 12 tackles for loss, five sacks, two interceptions and one forced fumble … Offensively, Hunter Newell threw his first career touchdown pass, connecting with Devin Morgan from 23 yards out to give the Storm a 17-0 lead at halftime … Julian Means-Flewellen sealed the victory with a 72-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter as he finished with 154 yards on the day.

Streaking Stovall …
Over the past two weeks, graduate student Dalen Stovall has emerged as a key piece of the Storm's passing attack with back-to-back performances of more than 70 yards … After being held to just five catches over the first three weeks of the season, the Cuyahoga Falls native has caught four passes in each of the last two games, totaling 73 yards against Ohio Dominican and 77 yards against Hillsdale.

Third-Down Success …
The Storm have been impressive on both sides of the ball in third-down situations this season, ranking fourth in the conference offensively with a 42 percent (29-of-69) success rate … Defensively, the Storm are also fourth in the league, holding opponents to just 29.4 percent (19-of-64) … Additionally, LEC has been good at converting fourth downs, moving the chains 5-of-9 times thus far to rank third in the conference at 55.6 percent.

Moving Them Back …
Redshirt junior Quinterrius Jemison continues to impress on the Storm defense, racking up two more tackles for loss to go along with a sack and forced fumble in last week's loss to Hillsdale … The Cincinnati, Ohio, native leads the G-MAC and ranks fourth nationally with 9.5 TFLs on the season.

Kicking Concerns …
Lake Erie has left points off the board in each of the first five weeks of the season, suffering from either a missed extra point or field goal each week … The Storm have converted 2-of-6 field goal attempts and are 9-of-12 on PATs.

Running with Julian …
Despite being held to season lows in attempts (9) and yards (34) last week against Hillsdale, Julian Means-Flewellen remains a key focal point in the Storm's offense as he still ranks third in the league with an average of 64.8 yards per game and 4.4 yards per carry … The Niles, Michigan, native has the third-most rushes of any runner in the G-MAC with 73.
