FINDLAY, Ohio — The Lake Erie College women's soccer team fell 5-0 to the University of Findlay on Thursday evening at DeHaven Field. The loss moves the Storm to 3-5-3 overall and 2-4-1 in G-MAC play.
Findlay opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Taylir Lynam found the back of the net, giving the Oilers a 1-0 advantage. Lake Erie kept the deficit at one through the remainder of the opening half, with goalkeeper
Morgan VanMeter making a save late in the period to keep the Storm within striking distance. Lake Erie's lone shot of the match came from
Ava Moore in the 23rd minute.
The Oilers broke the game open early in the second half. Addison Williams scored just 16 seconds after the restart off an assist from Lynam before adding her second goal of the match in the 54th minute. Allie Arnold followed with another Findlay goal in the 57th minute, pushing the advantage to 4-0.
Findlay added its final goal in the 78th minute when Kylie Recker scored off assists from Rylie Debacker and Mari Stojcevski.
The Oilers finished the match with a 21-1 advantage in shots and a 9-1 edge in corner kicks.
VanMeter played just over 79 minutes in goal for Lake Erie and recorded four saves, while
Sydney Emler closed out the final 10:59 without allowing a goal.
Lake Erie will look to regroup as it continues G-MAC play on Saturday October 3rd back on the road at Tiffin at 12pm.
