Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Storm Tie Northern Michigan on Late Goal

PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie men's soccer team hosted the Northern Michigan University Wildcats for their final non-conference game of the season. The game would end in a tie and give the Storm their fourth straight draw to start the season.

Game Recap

Nortehrn Michigan struck first in the 28th minute off a nice pass from Davian Gumbs to Teun Van Gansewinkel. Despite the early score, the game remained tight and largely uneventful in terms of clear chances. Both sides played a fairly balanced game through the midfield but the match was often interrupted by a large amount of combined fouls (23), and yellow cards (4).

In the second half, the Storm gradually took control and spent more time attacking than defending as the game started to wind down. This paid off for them and in the 86th minute, Veljko Radovanovic found Benjamin Lerida to tie up the game which would hold until the final whistle.

In a highly defensive game the Storm attempted just four shots compared to the Wildcats seven. Radovanovic, Luka Bakovic, Lucas Howe, and Lerida would account for those four shot attempts.

Looking Ahead
Lake Erie will begin G-MAC competition on Thursday, September 18th at 7 p.m. to host the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers in a rematch of their 2024 G-MAC tournament bout.
