Justin Goodwin - Men's Lacrosse
Gabe Kynard - Men's Baketball
Ethan Snyder - Track & Field
2006-07 Men's Basketball Team
The 2006-07 men's basketball team went 25-3 during their historic season and won their second straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) championship. They became just the second team in Lake Erie history to make a berth in an NCAA national tournament, and the first to earn a first-round bye in the process. Their 25 wins remain a program record to this day.
As a team, they finished 11th in the nation in steals per game (11.9), 13th in scoring margin (+12.9), and the 29th highest scoring offense (81.2 ppg).
Along with the team successes, many players earned personal accolades along the way. The Storm had four players named All-AMCC, with two on First Team (Robert Williams, Derrick Thornton), and one on each the Second Team (Darnell Campbell) and Honorable Mention Team (Howard Washington).
Kayla Gabor - Women's Basketball (2014-15 to 2017-18) - Class of '18
Gabor was a four-year starter who left an indelible mark on Lake Erie women's basketball, dominating both the GLIAC and G-MAC throughout her career. As a freshman, she started all 28 games, averaging 12.5 points per game and totaling 351 points.
By the start of her senior season, she had already scored 1,262 points, and just 198 more made her the program's all-time leading scorer. She finished her career with 1,823 points, setting the school's all-time scoring record across both the men's and women's programs.
Over her career, Gabor averaged 16.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game, compiling 568 rebounds, 266 assists, and 188 steals in total.
Her excellence on the court earned her First Team All-GLIAC honors in 2016–17 and Second Team All-G-MAC recognition in 2017–18.
Justin Goodwin - Men's Lacrosse (2012-15) - Class of '16
Goodwin was a dominant defensive presence on the national stage throughout his four-year career in the green and white.
A three-time All-American, he was named the NCAA Division II National Defensive Player of the Year and ECAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2015. He also earned three First Team All-ECAC selections and was recognized as a Scholar All-American.
As a defenseman, Goodwin set program records with 123 career caused turnovers (1.98 per game) and 376 ground balls (6.1 per game). His single-season ground ball totals still rank 3rd, 4th, and 5th in program history, an especially notable feat considering the top two spots belong to draw control specialists.
After graduation, he became just the second player in program history to be drafted professionally, going in the third round of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) Draft to the Saskatchewan Rush.
In 2023, Goodwin was inducted into the Lake Erie College Hall of Fame as a member of the historic 2015 men's lacrosse team. He now joins teammate Reagan Harding as only the second individual player in program history to earn Hall of Fame honors.
Gabe Kynard - Men's Basketball (2016-17 to 2019-20) - Class of '20
Just like Gabor, Gabe Kynard was a transformative figure in the history of Lake Erie basketball.
Over a standout four-year career, Kynard averaged 16.1 points per game while shooting 45.2% from the field and collecting 535 rebounds (4.6 per game). His senior season was particularly dominant, as he posted 589 points (20.3 ppg), 159 rebounds (5.5 rpg), 90 assists (3.1 apg), and 46 steals (1.6 spg). His efforts earned him G-MAC Player of the Year honors, along with All-American, All-Region, and All-District recognition.
Kynard's 1,873 career points stand as the all-time scoring record for Lake Erie basketball, across both the men's and women's programs. He was named First Team All-G-MAC twice and received an Honorable Mention once, adding to a decorated list of honors that includes: All-American, 2x All-Region, All-District, and G-MAC Player of the Year.
Equally impressive in the classroom, Kynard exemplified the true meaning of student-athlete. He was named G-MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and earned Academic All-Region, Academic All-District, Academic All-GLIAC, and three Academic All-G-MAC honors.
Ethan Snyder - Track & Field (2009-10 to 2013-14) - Class of '13
Ethan Snyder helped lay the foundation for success in Lake Erie track & field, becoming the program's first-ever All-American.
Over his career, Snyder earned All-American honors three times, twice in the 400-meter hurdles (2010, 2013) and once in the 4x400-meter relay (2011). He qualified for nationals five times and was a four-time USTFCCCA All-Region selection.
Snyder currently holds multiple program records, including the indoor 60-meter hurdles (8.19), indoor 4x400-meter relay (3:15.44), outdoor 400-meter hurdles (51.44), and outdoor 4x400-meter relay (3:11.25). He was also a three-time Second Team All-GLIAC honoree.
