Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Storm Stumbles in G-MAC Opener, Falls 21-3 to Ashland

ASHLAND, Ohio -- The Lake Erie women's lacrosse team faced Ashland in their conference opener, falling 21-3. From the opening face-off, the Eagles set the tone, scoring twice in the first 38 seconds. By halftime, the scoreboard read 14-1, and the second half didn't bring much relief. With the loss, the Storm drop to 1-6 on the season.

Game Recap

The first period set the stage for a tough afternoon, as Lake Erie found themselves outscored 11-1. Nearly everything that could go wrong did—losing 11-2 on draw controls, committing five turnovers on limited possessions, and managing just two shots compared to Ashland's 13. The lone bright spot came at the 11:19 mark when, who else but Brooke McNeal, found the net to briefly bring the game within two.

From there, Ashland rattled off 14 unanswered goals, a streak that stretched deep into the third period. The Storm finally broke the drought with back-to-back goals from Amelia Shirk and Madelyn Goodrich, but the Eagles quickly reasserted control, scoring the final four goals to secure the dominant win.
