PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie women's lacrosse team competed at home in their second game of the season against the Lewis Flyers. The Storm was able to put the first goal on the board, but the Flyers were too powerful, taking the 22-8 victory. Lake Erie is now 0-2 on the season.
Game Recap
The game started with a flurry of action. Just 28 seconds in, Rachel Rose found the back of the net off an assist from Brooke McNeal, giving the Storm an early 1-0 lead. However, Lewis responded quickly, scoring twice within a minute to take a 2-1 advantage. Madelyn Goodrich tied it up at 10:23, but the Flyers answered with two more goals, making it 4-2. Goodrich struck again at the 8:15 mark, cutting the deficit to 4-3.
The momentum shifted drastically in the second quarter. Lewis unleashed an 11-goal run from 8:01 to 5:18, building a commanding 15-3 lead. Lake Erie managed one goal in the period—Goodrich's third of the game, assisted by Erin Snyder—but entered halftime trailing 16-4.
The Storm added two more goals in the third, one each from Snyder and McNeal, but Lewis continued to pull away, leading 19-6 heading into the final frame.
Lewis tacked on three more unanswered goals before Lake Erie found the net twice late in the game. Goodrich tallied her fourth goal of the contest, and Rose added her second with 2:07 remaining, bringing the score to 21-8. The Flyers added one more before the final whistle to seal the 22-8 win.
