Carlson Dominates But Storm Come Up Just Short to Ursuline

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie women's basketball team faced off against the Ursuline College Arrows today for another Great Midwest matchup. The Storm showed incredible heart and resilience in a thrilling showdown, nearly overcoming a tough deficit before falling just short in a 59-55 battle against the Ursuline Arrows.

From the opening tip, the Storm fought hard but faced an early challenge as the Arrows jumped out to an 18-14 lead in the first quarter. Despite the early deficit, Lake Erie never backed down, grinding through a defensive battle in the second and third quarters to keep themselves within striking distance.

Heading into the fourth quarter down 39-30, the Storm delivered their best performance of the night, erupting for a game-high 25 points in the final period. With relentless effort on both ends of the floor, they clawed their way back, applying constant pressure and keeping the outcome in doubt until the final moments.

While Ursuline ultimately held on for the win, Lake Erie's fight and determination were undeniable. Their explosive fourth-quarter performance showcased their ability to step up in clutch moments, and their never-quit mentality made for an electrifying finish.

Lilee Carlson led the way for the Storm with a career-high 29 points while scoring her 1,000th collegiate point in the process. She shot 9-of-16 (56.3%) from the field and went 10-for-12 from the charity stripe while adding five steals during her career night.

The Matchup

After falling 90-54 in their first meeting this season, the Storm showed massive improvement this time around. The loss now gives the Storm back-to-back losses to the Arrows and a 2-8 record in. their last 10 meetings. 

Looking Ahead

Lake Erie will be back in action on Thursday, February 20th on the road to face the Walsh Cavaliers for the first time this season. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
