Storm Earn First Win on the Road Against Ursuline

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie women's basketball team traveled tonight to face the Ursuline College Arrows in another Great Midwest match. The Storm played well and earned their first win, taking down the Arrows 68-49.

Game Recap
The Storm got off to a hot start, scoring 11 straight points and draining three straight three pointers to begin the game. They spread the ball around effectively as seven different Storm players scored in the quarter, guiding the team to an early 19-13 lead.

The Lake Erie defense was strong in the second, as the Arrows managed just eight points. The Storm grabbed eight defensive rebounds in the quarter and held Ursuline to a 30% shooting percentage.

The second half was more of the same and despite the Arrows putting up 18 points in the fourth quarter, the Storm walked away with a much needed win.

Grace Lyon led the team with 19 points on 9-of-13 shooing and finished second on the team with six rebounds.

Megan Mares and Kylie Maxwell led the team with seven rebounds a piece and combined for three blocks.

As a team, Lake Erie shot 45.2% from the field and 36.4% from deep. while out-rebounding the Arrows 43-33.

Lake Erie will be back in action on Saturday, December 13th at home to face the undefeated, #21 Malone Pioneers. Tip-off is scheduled fort a1:00 p.m.
