ASHLAND, Ohio -- The Lake Erie men's soccer team traveled today to take on the Ashland Univeristy Eagles in another Great Midwest matchup. The Storm and Eagles played neck-in-neck from start to finish and ended the game with a 1-1- tie. The draw gives the Storm a 4-3-7 record on the season and a 4-3-3 mark in G-MAC play.

Game Recap

It was an all-out defensive battle in the first half against the Eagles. Both teams combined for five shot attempts with none of them shot on goal. 

In the second half, the Storm found an offensive opening early and scored on a goal by Will Smestad in the 47th minute.

The Eagles took about 20 minutes to respond and in the 65th minute, they tied up the game at one where the score would remain until the final minute.

The Storm out-shot Ashland 10-4 in the contest, including 3-1 on goal.

Three yellow cards were earned in the game, two by the Eagles (Abdul Kawa & Rodri Jimenez) and one by the Storm (Will Smestad).

Looking Ahead

Lake Erie will be back with another tough match on Thursday, October 23rd on the road in a rematch with Tiffin. The game is set for 4 p.m.
