EDINBORO, Pennsylvania – The Lake Erie volleyball team traveled to Western Pennsylvania to face the Edinboro Fighting Scots. The Storm would need extra points to take the first set, but the Fighting Scots would comfortably take sets two and three. The Storm would then comfortably take the fourth set to force a fifth and deciding set. The Storm would show its toughness and would take the tight deciding set.

Set 1: The Fighting Scots would jump out to an early 11-3 lead. The Storm would cut the deficit to 16-12 after aces from
Nicole Colombo and
Kennady Wiley and a kill from
Nora Larson. Lake Erie would tie the set up at 18 after kills from Larson and
Rori Hanken. Edinboro would be one point from taking the set bring the score to 24-21. Edinboro would not get any more points. The Storm would swipe the set 26-24 after five straight points with kills from Wiley and
Allison Kirch, and a block from Wiley and
Lexi Stooksbury.
Set 2: The Storm would push ahead early 6-4 after kills from Kirch and
Sadie Nawrocki. The Fighting Scots would grab momentum in the set, taking the next eight points for a 12-6 lead. The Edinboro lead would balloon to 24-13. After three attack errors and a kill from Kirch, the Fighting Scots would take the set 25-17.
Set 3: The Fighting Scots would quickly leave the Storm in the dust, grabbing an early 13-4 lead. Lake Erie would cut their deficit to 18-12 after a kill from Hanken, two solo blocks from Nawrocki and an ace from
Kylie Anderson. Edinboro would comfortably take the set 25-13.
Set 4: The Storm would find itself ahead early with a 9-5 lead after kills from
Kennedy Stewart and
Gabrielle Jones. Lake Erie maintained their lead at 16-12 after kills from Nawrocki and Stewart. The Storm would comfortably take the set 25-16 after kills from Wiley, Nawrocki, and
Jasmine Heyward, along with an ace from Heyward to force a deciding set.
Set 5: The teams would exchange points to begin the deciding set. The Fighting Scots would find momentum first, taking five of six points for a 10-7 lead. The Storm would then take four of the next five points, tying the set at 11 with kills from Anderson and Heyward, and a solo block from Larson. A service error and a kill from Nawrocki would push Lake Erie ahead 13-12. After Edinboro tied the set at 13, a kill from Larson and a block from Stewart and Jones would give the deciding set to the Storm with a score of 15-13.

Lake Erie will head to Hammond, Indiana to compete in the Midwest Region Crossover, which consists of matches against the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). The Crossover will be held on October 17th and 18th. On day one, Lake Erie will face Missouri S&T at 12:30 PM and Southwest Baptist at 5:30 PM. On day two, Lake Erie wake up to face Saginaw Valley State at 10 AM.

Southwest Baptist is currently 5-12 overall and 1-4 in the GLVC.
