MIDLAND, Michigan — The Lake Erie football team traveled today to face the Northwood University Timberwolves in another Great Midwest matchup. The Storm gave the Timberwolves a ride early on but would fall by a final score of 52-7.
Game Recap
Coming off a fantastic win over Thomas More the week before, the Storm were riding high going into this matchup against a tough Northwood team. In the first quarter, the Storm defense was the definition of "bend don't break". Although the Northwood offense garnered 101 total yards of offense, the Storm only surrounded seven points and kept the game close.
In the second quarter, the Northwood offense got going and continued driving, taking a 31-0 lead into the half.
The Storm came out firing to start the second half, putting together their longest offensive series of the game with a nine play, 82-yard drive and capped it off with a rushing touchdown by Wrentie Martin.
This was all they were able to get though and they closed out the game with a tough loss against a strong Northwood team.
Nick Mosley led the offense with 80 rushing yards on 14 carries while Deandre Goodson led the defense with six tackles and one tackle for loss.
Looking Ahead
The Storm will be back in action on Saturday, October 18th at home to face the Walsh Cavaliers at 1:00 p.m. for the Pride and Passion Trophy.
