Storm Lose Season Opener to #9 Ferris State

BIG RAPIDS, Michigan – The Lake Erie football team kicked off their season today on the road against the #9 Ferris State Bulldogs. The Bulldogs showed their strength against the Storm and finished the game with a 56-3 victory.

From the beginning of the contest, Ferris State was in control. The Bulldogs received the ball to start and marched down the field in just six plays to jump out to a 7-0 lead. The Storm offense struggled in their first drive, suffering a three-and-out. Ferris State scored once again on their next drive and forced a turnover during the Storm's next offensive series.

With the Bulldogs up 21-0, Lake Erie finally got on the board with a 19-yard field goal by Jaffer Murphy.

This was the only score of the game for the Storm as they wrapped up the first half down 49-3 and finished with a 56-3 loss.

Senior Nick Mosley led the Storm offense with 55 yards on the ground on 17 carries.

Senior's Emarion Perkins and Theodore Parrish led the defense with nine tackles each with Perkins adding one tackle for loss. Cameron Prater and Ronald Cutts Jr. each capitalized on Ferris State miscues by each recovering a fumble while freshman Jordan Baker totaled an interception return for 47 yards in his collegiate debut.

The Storm will be back in action Saturday, September 14 at home when they host Post University at 2:30 p.m at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium.
