Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Storm Fall on the Road to Findlay

FINDLAY, Ohio -- The Lake Erie women's soccer team traveled down to Findlay on Thursday to take on Oilers. The Storm fell short in this one, losing 2-0. Their record now sits at 1-5 overall and 0-3 versus conference opponents.

Game Recap

The Storm will look to put this one behind them, as Findlay had the upper hand in shots (21-1), corner kicks (8-0), and fouls (7-5). Lake Erie's lone shot attempt came 37 minutes into the contest by freshman Brinlee Youngen. Sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Vanmeter continues to rack up a healthy amount of saves, recording six in the game.

Findlay was able to convert scoring opportunities early in both periods, striking in the 16th and 51st minute, contributing to the game's only goals. On the bright-side for the Storm, 22 different women received playing-time in the contest, providing invaluable experience as this young team looks to continue meshing together.

The Matchup

Over the past seven years, the Oilers have completely had the Storm's number, boasting an 8-0-1 record during the time-span following Thursday's game. During the mid-2010's however, the story was flipped, as from 2012-2017, Lake Erie held a 4-1-2 record in seven contests. The all-time head-to-head record now sits at 4-13-3.

Looking Ahead

The Storm will look to bounce back when they host Ohio Dominican on Saturday. Historically, ODU has a commanding 2-17 record against Lake Erie, yet they have looked very beatable this year thus far, entering the game with a 1-2-2 record while allowing the most shots-on-goal in the G-MAC. This provides the Storm with a great opportunity of getting the offense back on track, as the Storm have now been shut-out in three consecutive games.
