ASHLAND, Ohio — The Lake women's lacrosse team traveled to Ashland University to take on the Eagles for the first round of the 2024 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament. Despite having an improved season with many achievements, the Storm brought their season to an end after a 21-4 loss to Ashland. The Storm finish their season with a 2-6 conference record and an overall 6-11 record.
The first period started in the Eagles favor, with five goals. Madelyn Goodrich put Lake Erie on the board with a goal, followed by another goal from Erin Snyder. The strong efforts both offensively and defensively could not combat the Eagles, with more goals to give Ashland a 12-2 lead going into the half.
Goodrich and Snyder each recorded another goal, yet Ashland held their lead to the end with a final 21-4 win.
Leaders for the Storm include Goodrich with two goals, one assist, two ground balls, and two caused turnovers. Snyder was right behind with two goals. Goalie Avery Artino led the team in ground balls, picking up six along with seven saves. Bethany Kirkwood picked up three saves for the 15 minutes in the goal.
The team demonstrated athleticism and dedication throughout the 2024 season. Leaders for the season include:

Mea Lally — 42 ground balls as a freshman, 20 caused turnovers
Erin Snyder — 14 goals, 13 assists
Reese Friesen — 15 goals as a freshman, 12 assists
Avery Artino — 71 saves, 13 games started, 3 wins
Bethany Kirkwood — 16 saves as a freshman, 4 games started, three wins
