Softball Drops Home Series to Findlay After Close Game 1

PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie softball team hosted the University of Findlay Oilers for a doubleheader today at Kiwanis Recreation Park. After a close game one, the Storm fell in the second game 9-3 and now fall to 3-35 on the year and 3-21 in G-MAC play.

GAME 1
FINDLAY - 2
LAKE ERIE - 0

It was a strong pitching dual from start to finish in game one of the doubleheader. Seven hits were recorded between both sides and no runs were scored until the fifth inning when the Oilers put together two runs.

Offensively, the Storm had no answer for the Findlay starting pitcher, Alexys Antal who only allowed two hits and struck out 15 Lake Erie batters.

WP: Alexys Antal (10-4)
LP: Carly Rowland (2-18)

GAME 2
FINDLAY - 9
LAKE ERIE - 3

Findlay kicked off the top of the first by taking an early 4-0 lead. In the bottom half, Bridget Mulholand put the Storm on the board with a RBI single up the middle to score Arianna Tammaro.

The Oilers put three more runs up in the second inning and Lake Erie only managed to get two more runs over the next six innings of play.

Tammaro finished 2-for-4 and Jordyn Long finished 2-for-3 on the day with two RBI's. Long, CJ Garcia and Peyton Powers all showed some muscle in the game, with each of them recording a double.

WP: Molly Pfiffner (11-4)
LP: Sydney Murray (0-7)

The Storm will conclude their season tomorrow, April 26th at home for senior day when they host the Tiffin University Dragons. The series will be played at Mentor High School and begin at 3:30 pm.
