HILLSDALE, Michigan -- The Lake Erie softball team competed in their first road contest of the weekend today against the Hillsdale College Chargers. The Hillsdale pitching was dominant in both games and Storm suffered a series sweep.

The Storm faced 2023 Great Midwest Pitcher of the Year Joni Russell in game one to kick off the doubleheader. The Lake Erie offense struggled against Russell, managing just one hit in the game.
Lake Erie's lone hit came from the bat of
Emma Spahr who knocked a home run to left field in the seventh inning to break up the no-hitter and, subsequently, the shutout.
For Lake Erie,
Carly Rowland was on the mound and she finished with six innings pitched, surrendering six hits and five earned runs, while striking out three.

The Lake Erie offense continued to struggle in game two.
Arianna Tammaro,
Emma Spahr.
Peyton Powers, and
Ava Scott each recorded a hit in the contest, accounting for the Storm's four hits. Tammaro, Powers, and Scott also each walked once in the game.
Sydney Murray got the start on the mound for Lake Erie and pitched 5.2 innings, allowing nine hits and five runs, while striking out five.
