CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie softball team took to the road today to face off against the Cedarville University Yellow Jackets. The Storm, coming off a sweep against Ursuline in their last series, carried over their success by splitting with the Yellow Jackets. They now sit at 3-23 on the season and 3-9 in G-MAC play.
GAME 1

The Yellow Jackets jumped on top to start the game, scoring with a double down the left field line by Casey Bertke. From there, the Storm starting pitcher
Carly Rowland shut them down.
Rowland pitched a complete game allowing just three-hits and striking out seven along the way.
In the top of the fourth, the Storm finally caught a break.
Lillian Campbell kicked things off when she reached first on an error by the Cedarville second baseman.
Jasmine Gonzales walked and
Ava Scott singled to load the bases. Lake Erie took a 2-1 lead when
Jordyn Long doubled to centerfield, scoring Campbell and Gonzales.
This was all the Storm needed and they would come away with a 2-1 victory to begin the series and win their third straight game.

With
Baeleigh Burwell on the mound, the Storm began game two of the double header.
In the top of the third, the Storm got on the board first after an
Emma Spahr ground out scored
Arianna Tammaro.
Cedarville took the lead in the bottom half of the inning though, going up 2-1.
In the top of the 5th, Lake Erie retook the lead.
Just like the third inning, the Storm began their scoring by reaching on a fielding error, this time it was
Rachel Fender who got on. The Storm would then hit four singles in a row courtesy of
Megan Miller,
Arianna Tammaro,
Emma Spahr and
Lillian Campbell. Spahr and Campbell's hits would each drive in a run, giving Lake Erie a 3-2 lead. However, the lead wouldn't last long as the Yellow Jackets tied things up in the bottom half of the inning.
To kick off the sixth inning, Burwell was relieved by
Carly Rowland. She pitched a scoreless inning but in the seventh, she surrendered three-straight singles to the Yellow Jackets who walked-off the Storm 4-3.
In the game, Tammaro went 3-for-4 while Spahr finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Burwell finished with five innings pitched, allowing six hits and three runs.
