The Storm Hang in Tight with #10 Ashland

ASHLAND, OH – The Lake Erie Storm baseball team were once again on the road to take on the #10 Ashland University Eagles, for a series on March 22, 23, and 24. Lake Erie would go 1-3 in the series against the #10 Eagles. This brings the Storm record to 11-12 on the year and 3-5 in conference  play. 

GAME ONE
LAKE ERIE - 3
ASHLAND - 4

Lake Erie kept the #10 Eagles at bay finding themselves down three to one in the top of the ninth. Zimba Cadiz doubled to start the ninth, scoring two to tie it up 3-3 heading into the bottom of the ninth. Poltrone started the game going seven innings giving up five hits and one earned run and striking out four. The Storm would give up a double in the final inning to lose 4-3.

GAME TWO
LAKE ERIE - 9
ASHLAND - 7

Lake Erie would bounce back strong after that down-to-wire loss in game one to even the series against the Eagles 1-1. Lake Erie had an offensive inning scoring seven in the fourth and following that up with a two run fifth inning. Mitchel Szymczak went 2-4 with an RBI and a double. Justin Major hit 1-2 with two RBIs, while Sebastian Silva also drove in two RBIs. Logan Poole came into the game pitching three innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out three. Poole picks up the win for his first of the season. Landen Vance got the save pitching one scoreless inning.

GAME THREE
LAKE ERIE - 1
ASHLAND- 7

Lake Erie was unable to stop the #10 Ashland offense in the first match of day two. The Storm started off allowing zero runs through three innings but the Eagles would bounce back scoring seven in the next three innings. Mannuk Cadiz had a double while Graham Solak had the only RBI for the Storm. Robert Helt went four innings giving up four hits and four earned runs while striking out four. Helt's loss moves him to 4-2 on the year.

GAME FOUR
LAKE ERIE - 3
ASHLAND - 6

Lake Erie showed heart to not give up after that tough offensive performance. The Storm found themselves down early 4-1 after a four score first inning for the Eagles. Lake Erie would go on to give up two more runs in the fifth and sixth to find themselves down 6-1. The Storm showed fight scoring two runs in the seventh, but this was not enough to bring them back to victory. Teagan Williams and Jaxson Christ each had a home run in the loss. Solak also went 1-3 with an RBI. Alex Caudill pitched 4.2 innings, giving up five hits but only one earned run. He finished with four strikeouts, this loss brings Caudill to 2-2 on the season.

Lake Erie finally begins their home stint with a series of doubleheaders against the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers on March 29 and 30. First pitch is at 1 PM for series one and 12 PM for series two.
