Lake Erie Takes Three from the Hilltoppers, Improve to 7-6

WEST LIBERTY, WV – The Lake Erie Baseball team was back in action for a series when they took on the West Liberty University Hilltoppers on Saturday, March 8, and Sunday, March 10. The Storm would take care of business winning the series 3-1. Lake Erie was dominant in the two double-headers against the Hilltoppers, bringing their overall record to 7-6 on the season, already tying last year's win total in just 13 game. 

GAME ONE
LAKE ERIE - 8
WEST LIBERTY - 1 

Lake Erie came out quickly scoring on offense scoring four in the third inning and again scoring four in the seventh inning. Sebastian Silva doubled to right field to get things started for Lake Erie with three runs batted in. Mote and Esposito each homered in the seventh inning. Mitchell Szymczak had two stolen bases in game one. Dominic Poltrone had a dominant outing pitching a complete game and only giving up one run, while striking out 10. He improves to 3-0 on the year.

GAME TWO
LAKE ERIE - 12
WEST LIBERTY - 9

Lake Erie continued with the hot bats, winning game two 12-9. Lake Erie would score in every inning except the fourth and the seventh. Robert Helt recorded the win bringing his record to 3-1. Helt finished giving up six earned runs with five strikeouts against 22 batters faced. Dallmayer pitched two innings with three strikeouts. Graham Solak hit two homers and a double in game two while Espinosa and Szymczak each homered once.

GAME THREE
LAKE ERIE - 5
WEST LIBERTY - 11

Lake Erie would drop the first matchup on Sunday, 5-11. Esposito and Szymczak each recorded two doubles. Vasil would start the game for the Storm but only complete one inning giving up five runs. He moves to 0-2 on the year.

GAME FOUR
LAKE ERIE - 16
WEST LIBERTY
- 7

Lake Erie rounded out the series with a dominant 16-7 win over the Hilltoppers. Lake Erie had twelve total hits, scoring 12 runs in the first three innings. Geise, Solak, and Yankovich each homered while Solak and Esposito had a double. Micah Geise had four RBI's while Solak added three. Mannuk Cadiz stole two bases on the day and also had a run batted in.

Lake Erie is back in action on Tuesday, March 12, as they travel to Indianapolis to take on the Uindy Greyhounds. This contest was originally scheduled for February 17. They will resume play at 12 PM with the second game to follow.
