Box Score TIFFIN, Ohio — The Lake Erie Storm were on the road for the first of their last three games remaining in the 2023-2024 season. The Storm took on the Tiffin University Dragons, Saturday, February 24. Lake Erie was up 31-25 at the break and finished a hard fought game with a 67-64 win over the Dragons. This brings the Storm's record to 8-18 on the year and 4-8 in the G-MAC.
Lake Erie were able to hold off a late game surge by the Dragons after being outscored in the second half 36-39. The Storm finished shooting 45.6% from the floor, and 29% from three point range. Lake Erie went 10-14 from the stripe at 71%. The Storm had 41 total boards on the night, led by Manning with 10. They had 7 total team assists and 12 points off the bench. Lake Erie caused 11 Tiffin turnovers, converting those to 18 points. The Storm had 36 points in the paint and ended with 7 team steals.
Jacob Plantz led all scorers with a game high 22 points. His offense was surely missed when he was away with an injury. Plantz went 8-14 from the field and 5-9 at 55% from behind the arch, finishing with five rebounds and one steal. Jonny Manning racked up another double-double on the year with 16 points and team highs in rebounds (10) and blocks (3). Hornbeak had three of the team's seven steals and also ended with five assists. Todd Simons went a cool 4-4 from the field with 10 points in just 17 minutes of action.
The Storm wrap up their road trip with a matchup against the Walsh University Cavaliers on Thursday, February 29. Tip off is at 7:30 PM. Lake Erie will then round out their season with a home matchup against the Tiffin University Dragons on Saturday, March 2. This will mark the final game of the 2023-2024 season and also be senior night for the Storm. Tip Off is at 1 PM.
