Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lake Erie Falls to #20 Ashland

PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie women's basketball team hosted the #20 Ashland University Eagles tonight in another Great Midwest matchup. The Storm fought their hardest but fell 70-40 to close out G-MAC competition in 2024. The loss brings their record to 2-5 on the year and 0-3 in G-MAC play.

Game Recap

Lake Erie was pressed hard and often in the game, and it showed early on as the Storm offense struggled to get a rhythm in the first quarter. After going down big, they responded in the second quarter with a better defensive and offensive performance, holding the Eagles to just 14 points and forcing six turnovers. They came out of the locker room in the third quarter matching the Eagles in points and shooting 41.7 percent. By the end, the #20 Eagles were too much, and the Storm dropped the contest despite a more solid effort in the second half.

Seven different players scored for Lake Erie, with Nina Shaffer, Kennadi Harris, and Riley Montagner leading the way with eight points each. Kylie Maxwell led the defensive effort again with a team-high four rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.

Looking Ahead
The Storm will wrap up 2024 with a non-conference home contest against Salem University (1-10) on Thursday, December 19th. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
