GAME 2
The Pioneers took an early 4-0 lead in the first inning. The Storm had their first run of the day in the fourth inning, from junior Ava Scott's single to right field sending Garcia home. The fifth inning was silent, but a run in the third had Malone leading 5-1. Sophomore Emma Spahr reached first on a fielder's choice in the top of the sixth, which was enough to send Garcia home for the Storm's second run. The Pioneers responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, holding a 7-2 lead over the Storm. Final efforts in the seventh inning gave Lake Erie three more runs. Freshman Peyton Powers doubled to left field to send senior Dani Soria, sophomore Arianna Tammaro, and freshman Emma Kovalchuk home. The final out in the seventh gave the Pioneers the 7-5 win.
Senior Carly Rowland started on the mound for the Storm, throwing five strikeouts in three innings. Spahr took over the last three, throwing a strikeout.
The Storm return home for their next game, hosting the Hillsdale Chargers. The conference doubleheader is set at 12:00 and 2:00 PM.
