Box Score CANTON, Ohio – The Lake Erie women's basketball team traveled to Canton, Ohio on Saturday, December 3rd to take on the Malone University Pioneers. The Storm kept the score close in the first quarter, but ultimately fell 84-49. This loss brings the Storms record to 1-3 (0-1 G-MAC)
The first quarter started off as a back and forth battle. Freshman Kylie Maxwell hit a 3-pt shot to give the Storm the early lead, but the Pioneers quickly responded. Senior Alexis Lehmkuhl scored five points late in the first quarter to help the Storm battle back. However, the Pioneers began to pull away in the 2nd quarter, when they outscored the Storm 21-7. This difference would prove to be too much for the Storm as they were unable to get within 25 points of the Pioneers for the rest of the game.
The Storm were led by Maxwell who had a team high in points with 15. She also led the Storm on defense with three steals and two blocks. Sophomore transfer Ryan Elbert led the team in rebounds with five, while also recording three assists, two steals and two points.
The Storm will be back in action for a non conference matchup when they take on the Ohio Wesleyan University Bishops. This game will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 5 in Delaware, Ohio. Tip off is at 7 p.m.
