DETROIT, Michigan — The Lake Erie Storm basketball team traveled to Michigan Tuesday, November 21, when they took on the Wayne State University Warriors. After a late second half surge by the Storm, they fell 73-84. They move to 1-4 on the season.
It was a tale of two halves for the Storm. After going only 30% from the field in the first half, Lake Erie shot 16-31 at 51% in the second half. Lake Erie had 22 points off of six Wayne State turnovers. The Storm bench once again outscored their opponents 24-22.
The Storm had three players finish in double-digit scoring. Jonny Manning led the Storm with 17 points and seven rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block. Caleb Piks finished the night shooting 5-8 with 13 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Leon Hughes finished with 10 points, three assists, one rebound, and one assist. Manning has now scored in double-digits in five of the first six games of the season. This also marks the third straight game for Hughes in double figures.
Lake Erie is back home after the break on November 26, to take on Thiel College. Tip off is at 1 PM.
