CANTON, Ohio -- The Lake Erie women's soccer team took on the Malone University Pioneers in Canton, Ohio for another Great Midwest contest. An early goal from the Storm would be all they needed for the win as the final score was 1-0. This is the Storms first G-MAC win of the season and improves their record to 2-14-11-12.
The Storms offense came out strong as they immediately got a number of shots off. They attempted six shots and could not find the goal before the 32 minute, when freshman Florida Blake received a pass from sophomore Leonie Witt to find the net. This goal is Blake's first career goal, and Witts first career assist. The Storm's defense played well in the half as the Pioneers only attempted three shots.
Throughout the second half, the Storm tried to extend their lead with shots on goal from freshman Pauline Passarge, sophomore Kim Lorenz, and Witt. However the Pioneer's goalie guarded the net well and did not allow any goals. The Storm's defense continued to perform well as the Pioneers would have eight shots, with two shots on goal in the half, both saved by freshman goalie Morgan Vanmeter. The first half goal would be all the Storm needed to secure their first G-MAC win.
To wrap up their season, the Storm will play one final home game on Tuesday, October 31st. The Storm will be battling the Ursuline College Arrows at 7pm
