Women's Soccer Falls to Cedarville, 4-0

PAINESVILLE, Ohio –- The Lake Erie women's soccer team took on the Cedarville University Yellow Jacks for the second time this season. They would again fall 4-0 in the match. This brings their record to 1-14-1 (0-12 G-MAC).

The Yellow Jackets got off to a hot start and  scored their first goal of the match in the ninth minute. For the Storm, Sophomore Leonie Witt and Senior Emily Tarase were able to get good shots off, but were saved by the Yellow Jackets goalie. The Storm were hoping to go into the half down by one. However with 37 seconds left on the clock, the Yellow Jackets were able to find the net again to extend their lead to 2-0.

To start the second half, the Yellow Jackets continued the offense with an impressive goal in the top left corner in the 54th minute. Less than a minute later junior Ava Finfrock attempted the sole shot on goal in the half for the Storm, but the Yellow Jackets goalie continued to protect the net well and made the save.

In the 73rd minute, the Yellow Jackets got the opportunity to shoot a penalty kick, which they converted, and extended their lead to 4-0.

The Yellow Jackets would attempt four more shots in the remaining 17 minutes, but none were able to find the net as freshman goalie Morgan Vanmeter made three saves. The Storm were unable to respond back making the final score 4-0 Yellow Jackets. Vanmeter finished the match with nine saves in goal for the Storm.

The Storm will travel to Canton, Ohio to play the Malone University Pioneers on Saturday, October 28th at 3 p.m. before returning home on Tuesday October 31st to face the Ursuline Arrows at 7 p.m. for their last game of the season.
