NASHVILLE, Tennessee -- The Lake Erie Women's Soccer team took on the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans this weekend to finish up their road trip. The Storm would fall 1-0 in the final minutes of the match, bringing their record to 1-7-1 (0-5 G-MAC).
Both teams had many opportunities to score early on. The Trojans had six shots in the first 15 minutes, but they were unable to capitalize with Storm Freshman Morgan Vanmeter defending the goal well and tallying three saves. Freshman Pauline Passarge countered with two shots of her own, with one of them saved and the other missing over top. Both teams had a few more chances to score in the half, but neither could convert.
The Trojans started off the second half strong and got off five shots in the first fifteen minutes. Once again, Vanmeter played well in net making two saves. In the 84th minute, the Trojans finally were able to score to take the lead. In the final minutes, the Storm had two opportunities to tie the game. Freshman Florida Blake attempted a shot that was saved by the Trojans goalie. Then Passarge shot again, and missed right. This would be it for Lake Erie as they would suffer another 1-0 loss.
The Storm will be back on their home field on Wednesday, October 4th at 8pm to take on the Ashland University Eagles.
