Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Storm women's soccer team took on the Ohio Dominican Panthers for their first conference game of the season, falling short one point, 2-1. This brings both the Storm and the Panthers to a 1-2-1 record.
The Panthers came in strong, taking an early lead of 1-0 with a goal at 2:43. The Storm responded with two shots from senior Emilie Coyne in minute nine, but the Panthers' goalie saved one and the other just missed right. The Panthers took a shot in response, which missed out top at 21:30. The Panthers continued to shoot, scoring their second goal at 23:27, furthering the lead to 2-0. Freshman Ainsely McKenzie took a shot at 33:56 to try and get on the board, but it missed out top. The Storm kept fighting, and sophomore Rahel Lang scored their first goal at 40:30, assisted by senior Skyler Crane. The Storm finished out the period with another shot from senior Baylor Fortune, yet it missed out left. The Panthers kept their lead of 2-1 going into the second half.
The Storm was determined to tie up the score, with McKenzie taking an early shot at 46:49, but the Panthers goalie saved it. Freshman Leonie Witt took a shot at 60:42, yet could not pass the goalie. The Panthers took another shot soon after, but senior goalie Megan Biddell made the save. Biddell recorded two more saves before McKenzie and Fortune tried to tie up the score with some shots, but both were saved. The half finished out with the Panthers taking their first conference win, 2-1.
The Storm return to their home field on Thursday, September 15th at 1:00 PM for their next conference matchup against the Findlay Oilers.
