Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Storm women's soccer team was on the road for a conference match against the Ohio Dominican Panthers for the second time, falling short 2-1. The Storm now have a 1-5-1 record, and the Panthers move to a 2-3-3 record.
The first half started off with a shot from senior Baylor Fortune at 3:51, just missing out right. Senior goalie Megan Biddell made her first save of the night after the Panthers took their first shot of the night. Sophomore Jillian Newlan recorded a shot at 8:12, but could not clear the net. The Storm kept a strong offense throughout the half, with more shots from freshman Kim Lorenz, junior Emily Tarase, freshman Aubriana Campbell, and sophomore Rahel Lang. The period remained scoreless until the Panthers were able to get a goal in at 42:34, giving them a 1-0 lead.
Biddell started the second half off with two saves to give the Storm some power. Senior Emily Coyne kept it going with a shot at 56:05, yet was saved by the Panthers' goalie. Shortly after at 56:47, Newlan struck again and scored the Storm's goal of the night, assisted by sophomore Brenna Walker. The score was tied up 1-1 going into the end of the game. The Panthers responded with multiple shots, and another goal at 71:47. Freshman Leonie Witt took a shot to try and tie up the score at the end, but missed out top left. The Panthers took their second win against the Storm, 2-1.
Biddell finished the match with 10 saves guarding the Storm goal.
The Storm return to their home field to take on the Cedarville Yellow Jackets on Saturday, September 24th at 3:00 PM.
