Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Lake Erie women's soccer team battled against the Findlay Oilers for their second conference game of the season, falling 1-0. The Storm now sit at a 1-3-1 record, and the Oilers advance to a 3-2-1 record.
The Findlay Oilers started off the game with a shot only two minutes in, but senior goalie Megan Biddell made her first save of the day. The Oilers quickly bounced back and scored at 9:01, giving them the lead 1-0. Both teams played strong defense throughout the first half. Biddell recorded another save at 11:26, followed by a shot from freshman Leonie Witt, but hit the top bar. Freshman Ainsley McKenzie took a shot at 19:50, but missed out top left. She took another shot shortly after, but the Oilers' goalie saved it. Witt tried to tie it up at the end with another shot, but was saved by the Oilers' goalie. The half finished up with another save from Biddell, as the Oilers kept their 1-0 lead.
Early in the second half, Witt recorded two more shots at 51:38 and 53:59, but could not make it past the Oilers' goalie. Biddell countinued to guard the net throughout the second half, making five saves. The clock ran out without any goals in the second half, giving the Oilers the 1-0 win.
Lake Erie finished with six shots and Biddell finished with eight saves.
The Storm return to their home field on Saturday, September 17 for their next conference game against the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans at 11:00 AM.
